Once upon a time, a couple of friends came together and formed what is to be known as the first of its kind in Philippine children's theatre history. They called it: The textbook theatre©.

textbook theatre© made lessons in Science, Math and Languages come alive on stage, through live theatre performances in schools, communities and public parks and playgrounds. Designed to be the group's humble contribution to Philippine education pedagogy.

Soon, textbook theatre© found itself performing with different groups of children, including those that the mobile theatre group realize as most important. The children deprived of opportunities to go to school: the street and working children.

CHILDREN'S LAB© was conceived years later as the group evolved into it's present nature. A duly registered non-stock, non-profit non-sectarian, non-political, non-government organisation, that aims to break the four walls of the theatre and break the divides of the classroom whether by class, gender or creed. The group rediscovered the essential art form, DRAMA, which is LIFE itself.

To this day, CHILDREN'S LAB© maintains that IT IS NOT just the WHAT that is important, it is ALSO THE HOW, thus developing the unique methodology called: Drama in Education and Children's Theatre or DIECT.
